CLOSENESS IN GESTALT THERAPY
Introduction. The concept of closeness in Gestalt therapy remains relatively underexplored compared to other psychotherapeutic approaches, such as interpersonal psychoanalysis (J. W. Newirth, 1982), transactional analysis (Stewart, 1992), and existential approaches (M. Denes, 1982). In the early and later works of Perls (1969/1992; 1973/1981), insufficient attention is given to this dimension of human relationships and to the driving mechanism of therapeutic relationships. Attempts to address the study of closeness can be found in the works of Perls’ successors and students (Davidove, 1982; I. M. Shepherd, 1992), but they lack a unified theoretical framework. The present article aims to fill this theoretical gap by examining primary texts of pioneers and contemporaries of Gestalt therapy, as well as scholars from related approaches.
The aim of this article is to analyze the concept of closeness in classical and contemporary works on Gestalt therapy and to identify relevant practical implications for modern psychotherapeutic practice.

ABSTRACT (ENGLISH):
This article examines the concept of intimacy in classical and contemporary Gestalt therapy literature and compares it with theories from other psychotherapeutic approaches. Through critical analysis of primary texts by Perls, Davidove, Hycner, and Shepherd, alongside works from psychodynamic and existential-humanistic paradigms, the author identifies common theoretical foundations and practical conclusions for contemporary Gestalt therapy practice.

Стаття присвячена аналізу феномену близькості в класичних та сучасних роботах з гештальт-терапії та порівнянню її з теоріями фахівців з інших психотерапевтичних підходів. На основі критичного огляду первинних текстів Перлза, Davidove, Hycner та Shepherd, а також праць із психодинамічної та екзистенційно-гуманістичної парадигм, автор визначає спільні теоретичні корені та практичні імплікації для сучасної практики гештальт-терапії.
